A new single called 2045 by Katie Ann and MC ZiLL is a conscientious hip hop song that rebels in the questionable fate of our planet.
What was the motivation behind writing 2045?
The lyrics in this song aren't happy cookie cutter lyrics, they're about a lot of bad stuff that our planet is experiencing. The white elephant in the room that we're all asking ourselves - is our planet dying? For some it's an easy question to answer, but for others it's more convenient to turn the blind eye and blissfully ignore the warming signs our planet is exhibiting.
2045 isn't necessarily about a dying Earth, it proposes the possibility of changing course together as one, in which humanity takes steps towards a more sustainable planet. Providing the opportunity for listeners to think about the future and our seeds of generations to come who will inherit the condition of our planet. Are we setting them up for failure? Certainly without our planet humanity will die. Taking care of Earth should be a priority for every human, being responsible for their small part makes a big impact on the overall quality of our environment.
An Earth Day Dedication
The composers who wrote 2045, MC ZiLL and Katie Ann, are a husband and wife musical dynamic duo, in addition to being educators (math and music teachers). They chose to release this song on Earth day as a dedication to our planet, hoping that even if people only listen once, maybe it will make a difference.
Lyrics
Hook:
Will we survive?
Generations have killed
One generation revives
To see 2045?
Can’t run and hide,
Fall back
Step aside
One generation
To improve mankind
Change minds
One at a time
Will we survive
To see 2045?
Let’s thrive in 2045
MC ZiLL Verse 1:
I share, help people hear
Educating if you’re unaware
Assist with seeing clear
Green house effects always have been here
Consequently built up
Trapping gasses in our atmosphere
Rising sea levels
Stronger hurricanes, monsoons
Temperatures high
Sleuth throughout haikus
Environmental tycoons
Disregard typhoons
Temperatures low
Much fluctuation ensues
No kidding buffoons
Sniffing on car fumes
Toxins released and consumed
The time is High noon
Major reductions
In fossil fuel combustion
Derail the function
Instruct, curtail the public
CO2 gasses
Overcome the status quo
Time to clean glasses
We bat our eyes, let it go
Atmospheric concentration
Forests, lands soak it up
Human consumption erupting
Do something; slow it up
Katie Ann Verse 2:
Move minds
answers to find
Shake immoral disbelief
What happened to the coral reefs?
Honey bee
Now an endangered species
The Artic sea
will soon be ice free
CO2 emissions
Destroying our ecosystem
Mother Nature can’t ignore
much more
Powerful winds roar
Ignorance is bliss
A sea once full of fish
Now burns with Pyroplastics
Icebergs melting
Faster than
Forests burning
It’s out of control
A dominoe affect
Learning
We’re facing a biological annihilation
Unnerving diabolical violations
On the brink
Heading for extinction
Blood thirsty Greed
destroying Biodiversity
Our planet is dying
We need to stop lying
MC ZiLL Verse 3:
Gigafire
Massive blazes burning
Extreme heat waves
forecast temperatures turning
More intense than
Previous weather events
Learning
presents a consequence
An intent to prevent
yearning
Playing a game of chess
a mess
nowhere to escape
Noble warning
global warming
checkmate
Obey rules in May else
CO2 molecules may remain
In the atmosphere for 100 decades
Who really knows best?
Have we reached a crisis mode yet?
Keeping it status quo
Only slows progress
Electricity blackouts
crackling like a pop rock
towers demolition
OG definition of a “hot spot”
Bridge the divide
Present minds, future vibes
Never truly saving lives
Unless stubbornness subsides
Empathy climbs
History lessons combine
See if we swallowed our pride
When 2045 arrives man
