Home is anywhere with you. We don't need a Christmas tree to celebrate the joys of the season. We need each other and through the hustle and bustle of life we have each other right here, right now. We get the privilege to live in the present together. One day we wont and that's a guarantee.
Project joy sugar coated the ugly journey we began last summer when my father in law was diagnosed. We know how this road is going to end. It's not going to be pretty. The journey has completely broken us down and changed everything. Things you would think are concrete suddenly become lucid and plans have to be changed for the greater good. It's abrupt and uneasy but it will eventually be alright. Uncharted waters.
The problem we face is bigger than us and our wants and needs can't come first. This year I've been stripped of every Christmas tradition I've known but there's one that remains. I've found normalcy and comfort singing and playing Christmas songs.
Hosting a string of benefit Christmas concerts kept us busy, a healthy distraction we needed to take our minds off the facts of our current situation. It's the healthy distractions in life that make music so healing and therapeutic. It brings us together for something greater than ourselves.
Having the support from the community meant everything. MC ZiLL and I are so thankful to everyone who came together and showed support. Our sponsors, friends, fans and family attending concerts, donors and people buying our merchandise. We met a lot of people through Project Joy and every single one of them had a story about how cancer impacted their life. We realized there are many people who are praying for us. Project Joy helped us see that we're not alone.
I'm able to walk away from these concerts with a lot of fun laughs and memories to help get me through the unknowns this Christmas. I learned how successful my creative efforts are and that it's a powerful tool for positivity in this world.
The Project Joy Concerts are over but you can still benefit Project Joy until December 27th by making a donation directly to our Roswell Link or by purchasing some Project Joy Merchandise!
We designed a line specifically for Project Joy. Until December 27th half of any merchandise sales will go to our brain cancer research benefit.
